The True Sabbath Hebrews 4

The true Sabbath isn’t a day—it’s a person.
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. 2 And [a]on the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it He rested from all His work which God had created [b]in making it.- Genesis 2:1-3
When God “rested” on the seventh day in Genesis 2:2, He never went back to creating. That rest symbolized completion—and it’s ongoing.
Jesus said:
“Come to Me, all [a]who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”-Matthew 11:28
God's Sabbath rest is eternal, and believers are invited into it by faith in Christ—not by keeping a day of the week.
So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His-Hebrews 4:9-10
This “rest” is about ceasing from works-based righteousness and trusting in the finished work of Christ.

Hebrews 4:1–2 — A Warning to Not Miss God’s Rest
“Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it. For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened.”
- “Them” = the Israelites in the wilderness (Hebrews 3).
- God promised them rest in the Promised Land, but they died in the desert because of unbelief.
- The writer is saying: Don't repeat their mistake. God's rest is still available, but it's only entered by faith.

“For we who have believed enter that rest… although his works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way: ‘And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.’”

- “Sabbath rest” here (Greek: sabbatismos) is not about a Saturday commandment.
